Mario Luis Ortiz Jr.

Mario Luis Ortiz, Jr., 20, died Thursday, September 16, 2010, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born June 13, 1990 in Gary, Indiana. He was a graduate of Jumpertown High School and Northeast MS Community College. He was employed with Smith & Nephew Inc. of Memphis. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2010 at the Antioch Baptist Church with Bro. Greg Warren and Bro. Jaime Serrano officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery.

He is survived by his father, Mario Luis Ortiz, Sr. of Jumpertown; his mother, Nellie Ortiz of Jumpertown; two brothers, Ben (Cherie) Maldonado and David Ortiz, both of Jumpertown; one sister, Alexa Smith; his grandmothers, Doria Merced and Iris Ortiz, both of Gary, Indiana; his nephew, Benjamin Maldonado III; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ismael Merced and Valentin Ortiz.

Pallbearers will be Reinaldo Ortiz, Rene Ortiz, Ben Maldonado, Caleb Serrano, Matthew Ortiz and David Ortiz.

Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and until noon Monday at the funeral home. Visitation will be at Antioch Baptist Church beginning at 1:00 p.m. Monday.
