

Norman Taylor Young, 84, lost his battle with cancer on August 31, 2014. He was born September 3, 1929, to Frank and Lila Tays Young. He was a graduate of Booneville High School and Northeast Community College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner, and served as an alderman for the City of Booneville for 16 years. He owned and operated Young’s Service Station for over 30 years. He was a member of Gaston Baptist Church.
He was a loving family man and a loyal friend to many. He loved spending time with his family and lending a hand to help his friends, whether it was by mowing their lawns or driving them to doctor’s appointments. He enjoyed watching athletic events from the comfort of his recliner and fishing on the lake.
A celebration of his life will be at 4:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at McMillan Funeral Home with Dr. Matt Brown officiating and Kevin Eubank delivering the Eulogy. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park.
He is survived by two daughters, Becky (Donald) Harris of Booneville and Norma Kay (Paul) Hamilton of Roswell, GA; one daughter-in-law, Rosemarie Young of Davenport, FL; and four granddaughters, Mandi Harris of Southaven, Jennifer Hamilton of New York, NY, Kristen Hamilton and Michelle Hamilton, both of Roswell, GA.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 34 years, Genevieve Massey Young; and a son, Scott Taylor Young.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
