Richard James Denson, 96, of New Site passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at his home. He was a member of the East Prentiss Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a Sunday school teacher. He served as Minister of the New Site Baptist Church from 1996-2002, was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII , and retired as a truck driver for Commercial Carriers with 37 years of service. His hobbies were mowing, gardening and riding his John Deere tractor. But most of all he loved serving the Lord each and every day. Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at East Prentiss Baptist Church with Bro. Ronnie Hatfield, Bro. Josh Westmoreland officiating and Neal Edmondson will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in the East Prentiss Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, October 12, 2018 at McMillan Funeral Home and visitation will be from 1:00- 4:00 P.M. on Saturday at the church. He is survived by one daughter, Lori Moore and her husband Scotty; 3 grandchildren, Kindra Shadburn and her husband Chris, Aaron Moore and Cheryl Shepard; four great grandchildren, Emersyn Mae Shadburn, Garrett Benjamin Shadburn, Harley Quinn Shepard and Aurora Rose Shepard. He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Mary Denson; his wife of 57 years Flora Mae Denson; two sons, Mike and Tim Denson; one daughter, Cathy Denson; one brother, Rastee Denson and his wife Gwen Denson; two sisters, Almeda Scruggs and her husband Bill and Irene Burcham and her husband Sam. Pallbearers will be the adult Sunday School class and his nephews. McMillan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.mcmillanfuneralhome.com
