

Robert Lewis Buchberger died surrounded by his wife Elizabeth and their five children at his daughter’s home in Elizabethtown, KY. His parents were Alfred and Bertha Fischer Buchberger and he grew up in Marathon, WI. He graduated from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI with a degree in electrical engineering. He joined the Army when he was 18 years old and served in World War II in Europe and Africa.
He and his family moved to Booneville, MS in 1962 where he and his wife Elizabeth were instrumental in setting up the Booneville branch of Marathon Cheese Corporation. He was manager and vice-president at Marathon until his retirement.
He was a faithful Catholic throughout his life and his faith was central to his life. He is a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church where he served on the parish council for many years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 5, 2011 at St Francis of Assisi Church with Father Richard Smith officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Booneville Cemetery. McMillan Funeral Home has charge of these arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Seubert Buchberger; a sister, Arnetta (Lloyd) Eckes of Chippewa Falls, WI; a brother, Alvin Buchberger of Chippewa Falls, WI; five children, Michael Buchberger of Hollandale, MS, Marie (G. Neil) Yates of Elizabethtown, KY, Greta (Donald) Prather of Shelbyville, KY, Lisa Trace of Booneville, and Karl (Rebecca) Buchberger of Florence, KY. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren on the way.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church or Catholic Charities.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Friday, March 4, 2011 at the funeral home and 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday at the church.
