Mrs. Warmbrodt was born Nan Lorene Prewitt June 25, 1913, at home in rural Bunceton to John Mallory Prewitt and Stella Frances Cable Prewitt. Educated in schools in Cooper, Camden, and Pettis Counties, she graduated from Boonville High School in 1933, after boarding in town for two years because bus transportation was not provided for rural students. She married Herbert Hadley Warmbrodt November 2, 1935, in Boonville.
They made their home in Big Lick and rural Prairie Home until moving to a farm south of Bunceton in 1945 where they lived, farmed, and raised their family together until he died April 19, 1989. Mrs. Warmbrodt lived on the farm until she moved to Hartmann Village in 2009. Following her marriage, Mrs. Warmbrodt joined the Pleasant Grove Evangelical and Reformed Church where she taught Sunday School. Mr. and Mrs. Warmbrodt helped organize the Bunceton Federated Church in 1947. She was a faithful and active member of the church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and youth leader, Women’s Society president, Church Women’s Federation president, and as chair and member of many church committees. Her garden flower arrangements graced the church altar on hundreds of Sundays. She was active in community service in the school and town as PTA president, 4-H Club leader and judge, and Bunceton Garden Club president. She enjoyed the Cooper County Historical Society, the Extension Club, the Boonville Women’s Club, and Chapter GO of PEO.

Mrs. Warmbrodt had a curious mind, a sense of humor, and an interest in people. She was a woman of wide interests who enjoyed travel in the United States, Canada, and Europe. She loved gardening and shared her flowers as bouquets and as transplants for others. She created beautiful quilts, including one for every family member in three generations, and she also crocheted, knitted, and crafted needlework of needlepoint, crewel, cross stitch, and embroidery. She was a fine cook who generously shared her culinary talents.
She corresponded with dozens of family and friends over her lifetime and kept a diary for many years. Lorene Warmbrodt was a lifelong avid reader and supporter of education.
