Marjorie June Ritchie Wanager, 97, of Prairie Home, Missouri, formerly of DeSoto, Kansas passed away Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Katy Manor in Pilot Grove. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2021with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at William Wood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Marjorie was born on September 18, 1923 in Prairie Home the daughter of Warren Ritchie and Nancy Jane (Wolfe) Ritchie. She was a 1941 graduate of Prairie Home High School. On August 24, 1946 she was united in marriage to Vincent Wanager who preceded her in death. She was a dedicated wife and mother. She made most of the children’s clothes, tended to a large garden, and canned all that she raised. She was an excellent Girl Scout leader who took the girls on memorable camping trips. She enjoyed playing sports including softball, basketball, bowling and volleyball. She enjoyed square dancing with Vincent.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Robert (Dorothy) Wanager of Lee’s Summit, MO, Gloria (Jerry) Bird of Radford, VA, Diana (Larry) Stumpff of Medford, OR, and Sherryl (Ella) Wanager of Decatur, TX; six grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Lela Francs Hayes, and one brother, Allen W. Ritchie
