A noted teacher, scholar and author, Dr. Ward graduated from Radcliffe College with a Masters and PhD, and taught at Wellesley College, Brandeis University and New York University. In 1964 she won the National Book Award for her biography of the poet John Keats, "The Making of a Poet".
Dr. Ward is survived by a niece, Laurie London, and nephews James and Alexander Ward.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, June 6 in the Bigelow Chapel at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Yaddo Corporation Artists Community, PO Box 395, Saratoga Springs, New York 12866 and the Central Parks Conservancy, 14 East 60th Street, New York, NY 10022.
