OBITUARY

Catherine Ann DeSimone

Catherine Ann (Fleming) DeSimone, a resident of Boston and Harwichport, MA, passed away on April 25, 2018, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. DeSimone was the beloved wife of John C. DeSimone and the devoted mother of Julia (DeSimone) Tringuk and husband Aaron Tringuk of Sutton, MA, Ashley DeSimone of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Lisa DeSimone of Boston. Mrs. DeSimone was raised in Franklin Lakes, NJ and was the cherished daughter of Arlene (Walsh) Fleming of Peabody, MA and the late Matthew Fleming. She was the adoring sister of Chris Fleming of Reading, MA and the late Diane (Fleming) Craig. Mrs. DeSimone is also survived by her dear mother-in-law Kristin (Wallmuller) DeSimone of Worcester, MA and was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. DeSimone earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Smith College in 1983 and began a career as an insurance executive directly after. She married John C. DeSimone on June 14, 1985 after which they settled in Boston, MA. Mr. and Mrs. DeSimone moved to Southborough, MA after the birth of their oldest daughter, and it was here that they raised their family with Mrs. DeSimone became an active member of and contributor to the community. When her children reached their teenage years she began a second career as a substitute teacher in the Southborough Public Schools, an occupation she adored. She thoroughly enjoyed working with students, especially those who were most challenging because of her patient and caring nature. She was often in demand when teachers needed to go out on planned leaves. Mrs. DeSimone and her husband relocated to the Back Bay section of Boston where she devoted herself to volunteer endeavors, including the Neighborhood Association of the Back Bay, The Wounded Warrior Project and Last Hope K9 Rescue. Mrs. DeSimone loved Cape Cod where she lived every summer with her husband. She is remembered for adoring all dogs, especially Welsh Corgis, and enjoyed travel, cooking and baking. She will be dearly missed by her many, many friends whose lives were made better through her compassion, kindness and wonderful sense of humor.

Mrs. DeSimone’s family will receive visitors at St. Cecilia Church, 18 Belvidere Street Boston, MA on Saturday April 28th from 10 a.m. to noon, with a Mass to follow at noon. Friends and family are invited to a reception at the conclusion of the Mass at Towne Restaurant 900 Boylston Street, Boston, MA.
