Beloved soul of Eloise Jones of Boston, MA soared home on January 12, 2022. Eloise Jones, daughter of Homer Harris and Fannie M. (Harris) Davis, blessed the world by being born on April 4, 1933 in Oglethorpe, Georgia. Eloise Harris and John Jones were childhood friends in Florida, and on March 2, 1958 they married and began a journey that would last over 63 years.
Eloise a mother of seven children was very loving and protective of her family. She loved unconditionally. We were blessed to have this wonderful human being in our lives for 88 years.
While her children were very young, she worked as an at-home Professional Seamstress for Sears & Roebuck. As a Professional Seamstress and fashionably elegant dresser, she created outstanding fashion-forward clothing for herself, her children, and those who loved her sense of style.
When busing and the desegregation of Boston Public schools happened in the 1970s, she became a Teacher’s Assistant at West Roxbury High to be near her beloved boys Ivan and Kris. After they graduated from High School, she took a position at Boston City Hospital now named Boston Medical Center as a Ward Unit Secretary until she retired.
After her children were grown, and while assisting in the raising of three grandchildren, she went back to school to earn an Associate Degree in Business Administration at Roxbury Community College.
But it did not stop there. She was a marvelous cook. Every dish she made was with a smile, and from the HEART. She was most famous for her cakes and pies
Mommy, Wife, Nana, Auntie, Cousin, Friend, Neighbor, Sugar, Lady Bug, Weezie, Eloise wore many hats literally and figuratively speaking. Eloise was much loved by all who truly knew her and was very respected by the congregation of her Church. She was a Queen warrior when standing strong dictated that she did so and stood tall when faced with many life adversities. This proverb describes her quite strength:
“THEY WHISPERED TO HER
You cannot withstand the Storm
I AM THE STORM SHE WHISPERED BACK”
Eloise was predeceased by her son Johnny Ray (Silver) Jones who transitioned from this life on December 29, 2012, her three brothers Homer Jr, Johnny Bee, & Robert Harris, her parents Homer and Fannie M.
