With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of Frank Sousa, of East Boston, who departed this life peacefully on July 24 at the age of 75. Born on March 13, 1950, the son of the late Gaston Sousa and the late Mary (Palmerini) Sousa, he lived a life rooted in faith, compassion, and thoughtfulness—leaving behind a legacy of quiet generosity and enduring grace.
Frank had a heart made for caring. Throughout his life, he lovingly devoted himself to caring for his father, grandmother, mother, and aunts. His love for others extended far beyond family. He remembered every birthday, anniversary, and holiday—not just on the day, but weeks in advance. His handwritten cards, always thoughtful and often arriving early, were reminders of how deeply he valued those around him.
A man of impeccable style, Frank took great pride in his appearance. He also never missed a chance to dance at a party, often recounting stories of the awards he earned while doing the Hully Gully. Frank had quite a sweet tooth and always had a custard pie or Jordan Marsh blueberry muffins on hand and ready to share with his neighbors and friends who filled his kitchen daily.
Deeply religious, Frank lived by the values he held dear—kindness, humility, service, and devotion. He was a steady presence in the lives of those around him, always offering a listening ear, a kind word, or a simple act of love.
Frank was, above all, a man who thought of others first. In caring for his loved ones, in remembering life’s small but important moments, and in finding joy in beauty, music, and faith—he gave of himself completely.
Frank will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who were lucky enough to be loved by him: his beloved aunt Barbara Baldassarre, of Swampscott; his dear cousins Michael Del Grosso of Terrell, North Carolina; Andrea Del Grosso of Huntersville, NC; Nancy Ricciardelli of Marblehead, Massachusetts; John Baldassarre of Charlotte, NC, as well as many other cherished cousins and treasured friends.
Visitation will be on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 9 am to 10 am at Most Holy Redeemer Church, 65 London Street in East Boston, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 175 Broadway, Malden.
