Joan C. NG
April 3, 1927 – August 14, 2019
Joan C. Ng, 92, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14 at Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born in Taishan China in 1927, she was the daughter of the late Roddy Chung and Tuan Fong Moy. Joan immigrated to the US in 1975 with her mother, daughter and son and reunited with her husband whom she had not seen for 13 years.
An immigrant life was hard enough but she never complained and worked many jobs with her husband to have a better life for her family. She never let her children know how hard life was, how tired she was at the end of the day, and how much challenges she faced every day because she would rather have her children focused on education and not worrying about where the next pay check would come from. She loves all her grandchildren and never forget to give red envelopes for their birthdays, Christmas, New Year, Chinese New Year and some of their college funds. She was an example of an extraordinary and sacrificial mother, a life that was possible based on her faith and love from God.
Mrs. Ng is survived by her beloved husband Stephen W. Ng of 91 years, her two devoted children; Anna Huang and her husband David of Marlborough, and Billy Ng and his wife Grace of Wakefield, her loving grandson Jerry, his wife Melody and great granddaughter Evelyn; grandson Kevin; granddaughter Katarina and her husband Mark; granddaughter Angelina.
Her funeral will be held from the Waterman Funeral Home, 580 Commercial Street, Boston on Monday August 19 starting at 10am. Interment will be at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge. Visitation for relatives and friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday August 18 from 4-6pm.
