A former Bostonian

February 8, 2016

Every person that lived within the Greater Boston area in the late 1960s and 1970s will always remember your mother shouting for Anthony to come home for his pasta dinner. Wednesday may be Prince Spaghetti Day, but in our memories, it will always be Mary Fiurmara Day. May she rest in peace. Sincerest sympathies to the Fiumara family.

So sorry to hear of your loss. My friends and I were recalling the commercial this past Sunday at our meet in Gateway Park, Great Kills, Staten Island, NY.

I did not know Mary or the family. But I knew her now-iconic voice calling to "Anthony, Anthony" in those Prince commercials and it remains a very fond memory of my young years (I'm now 66). Thanks to Mary, Wednesday WAS Prince spaghetti day and she and the North End will eternally remain an integral part of Boston's culture.

Thank you, Mary and rest in sweet peace.
