

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Patricia (Mela) Cappello (Spinale) of Boston's North End, formerly of the West End, who left this world surrounded by the love of her family.
Born and raised in the West End, Patricia later made her home in the North End, where she spent the past 64 years building a life filled with love, laughter, and strong family roots. Patricia was the heart of her family, known for her generous spirit, her unwavering strength, and incredible ability to make everyone feel welcome at her table. She continued to cherish Sunday dinners and family holidays, bringing family together over homemade meals, cookies, and stories. She found joy in being with her family, laughter in the company of loved ones, and a bit of fun in her favorite casinos. Her favorite space outside of the North End was Newfound Lake in New Hampshire, making happy memories over 64 years.
She leaves behind her beloved husband of 64 years, Matthew Cappello Jr.; her three devoted children, Matthew Cappello III and wife Laureen of the North End, Patricia Cappello of the North End, and Maria Pesantes and husband David Pesantes of Tewksbury, formerly of the North End. Survived by her brother, Danny Spinale and wife Lisa Spinale of Marblehead. Sister-in-Law Theresa (Terri) White and husband Scott White of Cambridge. Patricia was a proud and loving grandmother to five grandchildren, Matthew Cappello IV and his wife Saveria Cappello, Michael DeBonis, Laurina Cappello and husband Ian Bentley, Francesca Pesantes, and David Pesantes, and eight great-grandchildren, Christian, Paige, Peyton, Rocco, Santino, Isla, Josephine and Carmela of whom brought endless joy and pride into her life.
Patricia will be remembered for her kind heart, her love for family, and the countless memories she created that will live on forever in those she leaves behind. Her legacy of love, strength, and devotion will continue to shine through her children, grandchildren, and all whose lives she touched.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in St. Leonard Church, 320 Hanover Street, Boston, MA 02113. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated following the morning visitation beginning at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Patricia's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105
