Russell Payson Mead of Boston, age 93, passed away on June 17, 2018. Husband of Jeannette S. Mead. Brother of the late Allan Mead and his surviving wife Jean. Brother-in-law of Nathalie Smith, Guy Smith and Barbara Smith. Uncle of James Mead, Douglas Mead, Laura Madden, Phyllis Simonetta, Robert Smith. Great uncle to Olivia Simonetta and Cecilia Simonetta. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday from 4pm to 8pm in the Boston Harborside Home, 580 Commercial St., Boston. A Masonic and Eastern Star service will be held at 7pm on Wednesday. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 12:15pm in Church of the Advent, 30 Brimmer St., Boston. PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH ON THURSDAY. Late WWII veteran. Longtime member and officer in the following Lodges: Past Master of Columbian Lodge AF&AM, Simon W. Robinson Lodge AF&AM, Gethsemane-DeMolay Commandery #7 Knights Templar, Past Illustrious Master, Boston Council, Past High Priest, St Paul's Royal Arch Chapter, Boston Commandery, Royal Order of Scotland, Boston University Lodge, Member of Masonic Secretaries Association, Past Patron of Wollaston Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, Member of Braintree Chapter, Order of the Eastern. I took was Russell’s overnight caregiver for about a year .. nicknamed me “overnight Dee “.. He was a cool guy and a fellow RedSox lover. I enjoyed watching the games with him ( and Jeannette).. He was smart and fun to talk to.
I sure will miss him ..

Russell and I shared our love for Demolay Commandery #7 when we were Commanders in the early 70's. He was a real Christian gentleman!

I am so very sorry for the loss of Russell. I enjoyed going to Braintree Chapter and hearing Russell sing his heart out. He was a very kind gentleman and always said hello.
