MAY, Adam L. Age 58, of Falmouth, formerly of Needham, died at home on April 21, 2020 lovingly attended by his wife Sylvia and children.
Beloved husband of Sylvia (Quiroga). Devoted father to Sabrina and her husband Gregory, Jessica and Keith. Son of Barbara & Murray May. Cherished brother of Andrew and Ariane. Survived by many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, teammates, cross fitters and friends.
Adam attended Needham High School and then chose Michigan State University. At Needham High, he earned the nickname Hawk and started a secret club called the ASA. The members of the ASA continued their meetings and outings throughout his lifetime until they would finally allow their spouses to join. At MSU, he met his lifelong friends at the Beta Theta Pi fraternity and developed his lifelong passion for everything MSU. He was a passionate sports fan and even more passionate about MSU sports and his MSU man cave. ‘Go Green!’.
Adam worked for years as a buyer until he found his niche at MAC wholesale where his talent for sales and his lifelong connections in the industry enabled him to excel. He loved making and sealing deals.
He was a competitive athlete and an avid MSU and Boston sports fan. For years while he lived in Needham, he swam before work, played in a men’s under 50 basketball league, was a pitcher for the TBS Bashers softball team and played golf and tennis. He loved travelling internationally with his family and around the US to watch his favorite sports teams compete at different venues.
Adam was very involved with his community and local sports. He was a leader of the Temple Beth Shalom Wilderness teen group, started the Temple Beth Shalom Cancer Survivorship group, coached Needham youth baseball and Metrowest basketball and was a Metrowest basketball referee.
In 2016, Adam and Sylvia moved to the Cape. Here they found great joy and embraced their new home and their new community. Adam wasted no time in quickly forming a large circle of very supportive friends. He joined Upper Cape Cross Fit and then trained and ran the Falmouth road race with his daughters. He loved sharing his home with his family and friends and watching sunsets at Chappy and Megansett beaches.
Adam battled prostate cancer for 2 years and most recently pancreatic cancer but he never let the cancer define him. He relished all that life offered and took advantage of every opportunity.
His infectious laugh, sense of humor and love for life will be missed by all.
In view of the times, a Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date at Temple Beth Shalom.
