
He was born in West Hartford Ct in 1945 to the late Bradford and Marjorie Griswold, both of West Hartford. Grizz is survived by his wife Louise, His three children and their spouses Wendy Souza, Michael Souza, Jennifer Griswold, Steven Shaw, Jeremiah Griswold and Heather Griswold. His four Grandchildren Laura and Benjamin Griswold, Cody and Kylie Souza. He is also survived by his adoring dog Zoey. Grizz is also survived by his sisters Alice Kaptinski of Charlestown RI, Edith Rafferty of Mystic CT, Dorothy Runyon of Brunswick ME, Nancy Griswold of Bradford VT along with Brother Donald Griswold of Pleasant Valley CT.
In 1963 Allen went to William Hall High school where he played trumpet and was selected as one of the first musicians Pops’ n jazz in the Hall High jazz band of West Hartford, CT. He graduated Worcester poly Technical Institute with distinction in 1967 where he earned his BSEE degree. He was an exceptionally intelligent design engineer. 1967- 1980 He worked at Hewlett Packard designing medical equipment such as the first heart pump sound amplifier to be used in ICU Departments. He has three patented designs with three others on record. He worked for an underwater ocean research company (ORE) for 21 years, where he worked on ocean research technology for things such as the oil rigs in the north sea. He volunteered with the Cub Scout 1985-1985 where he produced the pinewood derby track still used today. Allen gave addiction counseling for those in need for a period. He worked at Teledyne-Benthos on geophysical equipment for five years. Later to retire in 2009.
