Artelle Vernon Peters

Artelle V. Peters of Sagamore died on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the age of 94. He was the loving husband of Frances A. (Pells) Peters for 72 years. Born in Bangor, Maine, he was active in ROTC during high school and was a veteran of the US Army. For 37 years he worked for the New York-New Haven Railroad. He enjoyed breeding, raising and racing Siberian Huskies for over 30 years and was a member of the South Eastern Siberian Husky Club. He also enjoyed his vegetable gardens and had a fresh corn stand in Sagamore for over 30 years. Mr. Peters loved people and will be remembered for his laughter and jokes. Besides his wife, survivors include his daughter, Beverly Neill and her husband, Scott of Seattle, Washington; his two sons, Artelle F. Peters and his wife, Nicole of Atlanta, Georgia and Robert V. Peters of Brockton; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held from 10 am until the time of the funeral service at 12 pm on Friday, October 12, 2012 in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. in Bourne. Burial will follow at the Indian Meetinghouse Cemetery in Mashpee.
