

Former Westborough, Pocasset, and North Port, FL resident, Barbara J. Kittredge, passed away Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the Rehabilitation and Long Term Care Center at Glenridge in Augusta, Maine.She was born Barbara Joan Hart on January 17, 1927, the daughter of F. John E. and Ethel C. (Milward) Hart. Barbara became a Registered Nurse after graduating from Mt. Auburn Hospital School of Nursing in 1947. While attending nursing school she enlisted in the US Cadet Nurse Corps. She is also a graduate of the Harvard School of Education. On September 17, 1947, Barbara was united in marriage to Philip M. Kittredge at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Medford, Ma. To this union two children, Philip Jr. and Barbara were born. She worked as the Director of Mental Health Centers for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1950 to 1987. She was a former member of the St. John’s Women Guild, the Pocasset Village Assoc., Meals on Wheels of North Port, FL, and the Bourne Historical Association. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Philip, and brother John E. Hart. Left to cherish her memory are her children Barbara Joanne Kittredge and her husband Paul Faustine of Kent’s Hill, Me., Philip M. Kittredge Jr. and his wife Donna of Westborough, MA. She is also survived by her siblings Mary Hart-Smith, her husband Joe of San Diego, Richard Hart _his wife Judith _of Scottsdale, Az., and Russell Hart , his wife Karen of Pocasset, MA and Bonita Springs, Fl. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Caroline Faustine of New York City, Kagan and Shannon Kittredge of Westborough, Ma. Friends may pay their respects with Barbara’s family from 9:30 to 10:30 AM Friday November 21 at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne, MA. A memorial service will follow at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Pocasset at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
