Raised in Rowley, Massachusetts, Barbara graduated from Triton Regional High School in 1979 before attending Framingham State College. From there, Barbara began working in nuclear power plants — a job that she turned into a career. Barbara retired from Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station several years ago. Before — and in — retirement, Barbara split time between Sagamore Beach and Holden Beach, North Carolina where — until recently — she had a second home.
Barbara was always willing to go above and beyond to help her many friends, whom she considered her family. Barbara’s passing leaves behind a great many books unread, beaches not sat on, and dogs not spoiled. Everyone will miss her delicious cooking, her funny anecdotes, and spitfire personality.
Barbara shared her life with her loving husband, Lance, with whom she recently celebrated 29 years of marriage. Together, Barbara and Lance raised many fur-children, most recently Sully. Those who knew Barbara can attest that she’d have been upset if Sully were not mentioned. In addition to Lance and Sully, Barbara is survived by her brother Mark Sullivan and sister-in-law Suzanne of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, her sister Doreen Sullivan of Amesbury, Massachusetts, and her brother Jeff Sullivan and sister-in-law Noreen of Merrimac, Massachusetts. Barbara will be lovingly remembered by her many nieces and nephews along with their partners and children — both furry and not-so-furry. Barbara was predeceased by her parents Arthur and Pauline Sullivan, her brother Billy Sullivan, and her sister Joyce Sullivan.
The family would like to extend their deepest thanks and gratitude for the staff at Beth Israel in Boston for their diligent work and care. There are currently no plans to hold a public service and in lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to be made in Barbara’s name at your local dog shelter.
