

She was born on September 10, 1944, to the late Marion D. Ziegler II and Anne Elizabeth Ziegler, who were stationed at the Jacksonville, FL Naval base.
Betsy is survived by her children, Amy C. Anderson of Hyannis and Richard W. Anderson of Buzzards Bay; her granddaughter, Samantha Alliette Anderson of Falmouth; her brother, Marion D. Ziegler III of Melbourne, FL, as well as a beloved extended family and many dear friends.
A 1962 graduate of Bourne High School, Betsy remained active in the BHS Alumni Association until her passing. She also attended Fisher Junior College and retired from the Town of Bourne as a secretary for the Department of Natural Resources.
Betsy had a sharp mind and an insatiable thirst for knowledge. She was highly skilled in writing, editing and solving mysteries. In later years, she also enjoyed cruising in her Solara convertible and became quite adept at card making.
Guided by her generous spirit, love for the beach, and appreciation for music, Betsy participated in a variety of charitable ventures, many as a member of the Nautical Whalers Parrot Head Club.
Betsy was an avid sports fan and a proud, card-carrying member of Red Sox Nation. She also enjoyed the game of golf and played softball for many years, featuring a strong bat and smooth under-hand pitch.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Bourne High School Alumni Association or the Red Sox Foundation-Jimmy Fund.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate the spirit of Betsy's life from 4PM to 7PM on Thursday February 29th, at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd, just off the Bourne rotary. A Funeral service will take place at 5:30pm.
An official request for Betsy's burial at sea has been made to the Jacksonville, FL port of the United States Navy.
