After 81 years of a long and loving life, Carol Calhoun went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, June 19, 2014. With joy she often spoke of walking through the gates of heaven to be with her Savior and loved ones who had gone on before her.
Carol was born in Bourne, MA on August 20, 1932 to Leo and Margaret (Starkey) Dwyer. She was the youngest of six children, four other sisters and a brother. Carol has one surviving sister, Leona Evans of Michigan.
She was a teller at Cape Cod Bank and Trust in Buzzards Bay for many years before retiring.
At 19 years of age she met and married David H. Calhoun. Together, she and David had six children and raised them all in Cedarville, where she lived for 61 years.
She is survived by her children, Laurie David Calhoun, Cynthia Woerdeman and her husband Jeff, Daniel Calhoun, Vicky Fitzhenry and her husband Lee, Timothy Calhoun and his wife Linda and Julie Pelletier and her husband Jack. Carol also has 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. While looking over all her children at family gatherings, she had often remarked, "Daddy and I did all this!"
Carol not only left a legacy of Godly mothering to her family, but also to many in her church family. She will always be remembered as a very wise and loving woman.
She will be dearly missed.
