Cheryl Ann Audunson

So full of love, caring concern and compassion for others, she put her entire heart and soul into making her world a better place. Cheryl passed away on July 19, 2026, peacefully in her sleep at home, with her devoted husband, Jamie, by her side after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Cheryl was born in Worcester, MA on July 3, 1956, to Eileen and Alexander Cameron Jr. She received her high school education at Canton High School and graduated with the class of 1974. Cheryl began nursing school at Carney Hospital, Dorchester, MA, but soon became fascinated by the legal system. She spent 12 exciting years in the North End of Boston on Cooper Street, where she threw herself into the fabric of the North End community while working at Paradiso Restaurante. She received para-legal training and certification. Cheryl worked on many legal landmark cases for prestigious Boston based law firms including Hill and Barlow, Foley/Hoag, Michael McLaughlin Esq., Day Berry and Howard, and Pepper/Hamilton.

During and after her legal career was over, Cheryl’s other passions included raising awareness of our Veterans needs and organizing fundraising for these men and women of honor. She donated her time enthusiastically at various women-based charities including Rosies' Place and provided clothing for women in recovery on Cape Cod.

Cheryl and Jamie created a beautiful life together on Cape Cod, always with a stunning Weimaraner dog by their side. They enjoyed the seaside lifestyle with sand in their toes and love in their hearts. Often hosting friends and family for a feast fit for kings. Cheryl shined as a grandmother, better known as Gigi, to her crew of grandsons whom she affectionately called her niblets.

She is survived by her husband James Nels Audunson (Pocasset, MA), brother Stephen Cameron (Kingston, MA), sister Debra Hulien (Vernon, CT), Aunt Nancy Cameron Kowalczyk (Worcester, MA), cousins Brian and Kenneth Kowalczyk (Worcester, MA), nieces Tatum Zappia (Ellington, CT), Valery Jones and family (Stoughton, MA), nephew Thomas C. Hulien Jr, and family (Duxbury and Plymouth, MA), great nieces Amelia Braman (Baltimore, MD) and Briar Altenheim (New York, NY), step-daughters Leslie Franssen and husband Rob Franssen (Bel Air, MD) and Lindsey Audunson and husband Keith Lovett (New Fairfield, CT), step-grandchildren Ethan Franssen, Braden Franssen, Dylan Lovett, Austen Lovett, and Connor Lovett, sisters-in-law Roberta Audunson (Arlington, MA) and Sandy Lawson and family (Ipswich, MA), brother-in-law R. Christian Audunson and family (Warwick, RI).

Cheryl maintained many dear friendships over her years and just some of them include Kerry Connor (Stoughton, MA), Karen Fitzgerald, Melissa Vakalis (Plymouth, MA), Edmund Henderson (San Diego, CA), “Gordy” MacPhail (Canton, Holliston MA), Mark Miller (formerly on Canton), Rose and Robert Correale and family (Peabody, MA), Debra Generazzo (Chelmsford, MA), Tina Olivera and family, Paul, Samantha, and “Brando” Clifford (Canton, Mashpee, Dorchester, MA), Cindy and John Garland (Plymouth, MA).

Join us as we celebrate Cheryl’s vibrant life on Monday, August 17, 2026 at a Mass of Christian Burial that will be held at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Parish, 841 Shore Rd, Pocasset, MA 02559, US, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a reception at the church from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm. Let us gather to hold each other close as we remember a remarkable woman who brought so much joy to our lives.

In lieu of flowers, individuals are encouraged to donate some interest, time, and expertise in a cause that helps make our world a little kinder, gentler and more forgiving.
