

Claire Veronica (Puorro) Laspesa of Bourne died Monday May 21st from complications of COPD at the age of 88. She was the wife of the late Lawrence A. Laspesa, formerly of Braintree and Plymouth. Claire was born in Boston, MA and was the daughter of the late Anthony and Theresa Puorro. Raised in Boston she was a graduate of Roxbury Memorial High School for Girls. She later moved to Braintree where she raised her four children. She was an avid bowler, loved arts and crafts, fishing, and playing cards with her many friends and relatives. She is survived by her children Theresa Laspesa of West Wareham, Lawrence A. Laspesa Jr. and his wife Marcia E. Davis of Hamilton, and Christine Kelly of Braintree. She was predeceased by her daughter Kathleen Martin. In addition to her children she is survived by a brother Thomas Puorro of Los Altos, CA. She was also the sister of the late Nicholas Robert Puorro and Edward Puorro. Claire also leaves her nine grandchildren: Harry Irving, Paula Irving-Decastro, Jill Martin, Holly Tate, Amy Maree, Stephen Laspesa, Suzanne Addison, Nicholas Davis-Laspesa and Robert Laspesa; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visiting Hours will be held from 4 to 8 pm on Thursday, May 24, 2012 in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. in Bourne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Friday at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church, 141 Main Street, Buzzards Bay, with burial following at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
