

David Albert Swanson, 89, of Falmouth, formerly of Mashpee and Brockton died Sunday at the Royal Megansett Nursing Home, Falmouth. He was the husband of Lorraine “Larrie” (Labbate) Swanson for 69 years.
Born in Brockton, son of the late John Erick and Eva (Lambert) Swanson, he has resided on the Cape for the past 28 years, Brockton prior thereto.
He was the owner and operator of David Swanson Furniture Refinishing in Easton for a time and was the head spray painter and furniture refinisher for the R.B. Freitas Co. for 45 plus years. He was a master of his crafts with many talents. He even refinished pianos - there are over 100 pieces in a piano. Prior to that he worked for Furnwood Corp. in Brockton for 15 years and Dartmouth Shoe during the war.
He was a WWII US Navy Veteran, where he spent time in Tokyo. He was also an active member with The Jehovah Witnesses for most of his life.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, David J. Swanson and his wife, Cathy, of Brockton; granddaughter, Jaimie Carrara and grandson, Derek J. Swanson. He was the father of the late Toni Carrara and brother of the late John Swanson.
Funeral Service on Thurs., July 14 at 12:30 PM in the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne. Visitation prior to the service from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM. Burial in the Mass National Cemetery, Bourne. Donations in memory of David may be made to Alzheimers Assoc., 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
