Dorothy Wheeler

Dorothy Wheeler died Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Falmouth Hospital in Falmouth Massachusetts. She was 96 years old. She was the loving wife of the late Fred Wheeler for 76 years, whom she lived with in Pocasset, MA for 35 years. Dorothy was born May 23, 1929 in Framingham, MA to Florence Young Carpenter. She attended Scattergood Friends School in West Branch, Iowa and William Penn College in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Dorothy and Fred met at William Penn College and were married in 1949. They raised their family in Watertown, Connecticut, where Dorothy worked at Timex Corporation. They retired to Pocasset, Cape Cod, Massachusetts and enjoyed spending winters in Zephyrhills, Florida. Dorothy loved puzzles, games with her children and grandchildren, reading, cross stitch, knitting, and spending time with her TOPS friends.

Dorothy is survived by her children Esther Wheeler (Sean True), Clark Wheeler (Shelley), Beth Carlson, and Anne McAuliffe (Gerard); her grandchildren Kristen Wheeler, Samuel & William True, Jeffrey (Leslie Koyama), Matthew & Emily Carlson, and Rachel, Hannah & Lia McAuliffe; and her great granddaughter Abigail Carlson.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bourne Food Pantry, 121 Main St. Bourne, MA 03532
