Everette “Red” Bassett, 84, of Wareham died February 22, 2014. Born in Falmouth, son of the late George and Gertrude Bassett. He resided in Buzzards Bay until he joined the Air Force at 18. He was stationed in Germany, transferred to England where he met his beautiful wife Isabelle. The returned to Buzzards Bay and he worked for 25 years for the Postal Service. After retirement, they moved to Wareham and worked for 14 years at Tobey Hospital as a Security Guard. In his spare time he enjoyed doing projects, spending time with his family and his beloved animals. In addition to his wife Isabelle (Hoey) Bassett, he leaves his children Wayne Bassett, Jeanette McKinstry (Scot), Theresa Campbell (Richard), Keith Bassett, Michele Wade, grandchildren Richard, Theresa, Joey, Keith, Danielle, Audrey, Cheryl, Brianna: great grandchildren Christopher, Angelina, Isabelle, Treyvonne andJessenya; sisters Dorothy Manter,Ruth Ferreire, Mary Hodge, Elizabeth Chapman. Barbara Maginty. Predeceased by a brother George Bassett. Visiting Hours will be held Wednesday Feb.26th from 4 to 7PM at the Nickerson Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd, Bourne. Interment MA National Cemetery. Donations in his memory to the MSPCA. Burial with military honors will take place on March 12th at 12:30 pm at the MA National Cemetery Bourne.
