

Born in Boston, Ma, Frank served his country proudly during WWII while stationed on USS Coffman (DE-191) during the battle of the North Atlantic. He again was called to serve in the Korean War as a US Marine. Following military service, he was a member of the Boston Fire Department for 38 years. His firefighting career was distinguished by a strong work ethic and care for his fellow man.
A Christian, patriot, loyal friend and community servant, Frank’s greatest accomplishment was his enduring love affair with his wife and the family they raised. Frank is survived by his wife of 66 years, Diane (Melanson) McAlpine, and eight children: William (Laura), Diane (Andy Pacheco), Lauren, Brian, James (Patty Amoroso), Robert (Judy), Jennifer and David (Laurie). He is also survived 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews all of whom were very special to him. He is preceded in death by daughter Mary Anne, his brother William P. and sister Patricia A. Richardson. In addition, Frank leaves a sister Christina M. DiBattista.
Frank’s family is forever grateful to the compassionate staff at Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod Hospice and (Rev) George E Harrison for the level of care, kindness and comfort that they bestowed on dad in his time of need. A visitation will be held at 8:30am on April 7th at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd, Bourne, MA 02532. Following visitation, a 10:00am Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Pocasset, Ma. followed by a military burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Ma.
