LEACH, Gerald Martin, SR., 86, of Buzzards Bay, MA, passed away on Monday October 5, 2020 at Tobey Hospital in Wareham, MA. He was born to the late Gerald Luther and Patricia Leach (Martin) in Rutland, Vermont.
Gerald grew up in Medford MA, and graduated from Medford High School in 1953. After High School Gerald worked for the family business (LE Leach Company) and then enlisted in the US Airforce in 1955.
Gerald completed a four-year military term which included an overseas tour of Korea and was honorably discharged in 1959. Gerald then moved his family to Cape Cod, MA and opened Pelican Package store.
Due to his love of country, Gerald enlisted in the US Army Reserves in 1975 and was stationed at Otis Airforce Base where he retired after over 20 years of service.
Gerald was a lifelong member of the American Legion, enjoyed participating in veteran’s affairs but most of all loved watching his children and grandchildren play sports.
He is survived by his loving wife Catherine (Picardi) Leach of 61 years of marriage. His son Gerald Jr. of Bourne, his son Gregory of Dallas TX, daughter Karyn (Leach) Chauvin and her husband Dan Chauvin of Bourne, daughter-in-law Jennifer Leach of Bourne, and seven grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Dana Michael Leach and his daughter Anne-Marie Leach.
A funeral mass is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14th at St Margaret's church in Buzzards Bay, followed by a private, full military honor burial at the National Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
