Simply the best of all of us growing up here on the Cape. Jamie had a heart, kindness and a gentle nature which, when coupled with his million dollar smile, lit up everything around him. Tough guy too though I never saw him raise his voice or fists in anger. Fact is I never saw Jamie angry even with all the fights I saw after school and at parties.
Course his sense of direction was somewhat off and curiously he didn't have a driving license for a long time. But he'd sit cheerfully next to me shifting the stick shift laughing as I pushed in the clutch. Like a quarterback he'd shout out signals of when to push the clutch.
So ,cheerful idiots we were, we planned our trip to Woodstock in "69". Sneaking off the jobsite in Cummiquid, where we were working for Greenthumb Landscaping, by crawling down irrigation ditches, we left at lunchtime. We had to sneak because Fat Ed the boss said anyone who left early to Woodstock would be fired. Challange accepted Jamie! Off we went.
We set out to VT the only Woodstock we found on our map. What a fun hitch with Jamie my fearless leader flagging down cars with ease. 'Bout upstate NY a truck driver told us he heard the rock concert was was in Woodstock, NY...no problem-o, thanks for the tip and headed south. We got there on Thursday and set up tent and waited for all the other guys from the Cape to join us which they all did.
I haven't seen Jamie for the past forty years or so. But I didn't miss him at all as he's always been with me. A friend like Jamie just stays with you and makes the world easier to take. So; I'll never hear "Ernesto!" or "You jibroni!" (what's a jibroni? I don't know but he always laughed when he said it so I did too) ever again. But sitting here right now crying while I right this I'm trying not to laugh out loud at this guy's life. My best friend Jamie gone now to be with his loving mom.

Claudia, my heart breaks for you. Jamie was such an incredibly beautiful person. My mother loved him dearly and loved feeding him late at night even more. He’d compliment her on her cooking and tease her about her “good looks.” I will never forget hearing him call her Meme, and I can still hear his voice in our kitchen. Such a beautiful human being. Wish I could be out there for the services.
Much love and heartfelt prayers to you, Claudia, my dear old friend.

I remember a smart, good looking high school classmate ( class president) with a great sense of humor. We shared a lot of classes and activities together. Nothing but fond memories. Rest In Peace, Jamie.
