James Charles McKeeman, known to family and friends as "Jim," passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, at the age of 91.
Born in Boston, MA, and raised in Dorchester, Jim proudly served his country as a Boatswain’s Mate in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home and began a hardworking civilian life, starting his career at Keystone Camera, later joining Gillette, and eventually working for a local construction company.
A true Bostonian at heart, Jim was a passionate Boston sports fan and gave back to his community by coaching Pee Wee hockey in Dorchester. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus.
Jim is survived by his devoted daughter Maureen Witt and her husband Russell of Mansfield and East Falmouth, MA; his beloved grandchildren Amanda and her husband Paul DeAngelis, Michael and his wife Megan Saia, and Bobby Saia; and his cherished great-grandchildren Cam, Kylie, Kaiden, Kailyn, Ava, Bianca, Addie, and Cecilia.
He is also survived by his brothers, John McKeeman of Lakeside, Arizona, and Kenneth McKeeman and his wife Lilly of Pembroke, MA; his sisters, Joseda Robicheau and her husband Joseph of Monument Beach, MA, and Rita McKeeman of Quincy, MA; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Jim was predeceased by his beloved daughter Bertha “Dolly” Saia, and his sisters Helen McKeeman and Barbara McKeeman Druan.
Jim will be remembered for the deep love he had for his family and friends. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and humor will continue to live on through all those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne, MA.
A funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM at the funeral home, with burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery at 12:45 PM.
