Joanne Tucker Laurin

Joanne Tucker Laurin, age 91, long time resident of Sagamore Beach MA died peacefully at her daughter’s home surrounded by family on Monday July 20,2026. She was born in Bournedale, MA on October 7, 1934 daughter of the late Ralph E. and Ida M. (Anderson) Tucker and grew up in Hanson, MA. She was predeceased by her mother-in-law Elisabeth (Milton) Laurin and father-in-law Jeffrey Laurin.

Joanne was previously married to and is survived by David J. Laurin of Bedford MA. They had 4 children: daughter Patti-Jo (Laurin) Rainha and husband Alan of Clinton MA with whom she was living, son Scott D. Laurin and long time partner Gail Knight of Lowell MA, son Mark J. Laurin and wife Stephanie (Michaels) of Pelham NH, daughter Jennifer (Laurin) Dumdey and husband David of Pelham NH, and daughter-in-law Jayne (Lowrey, Laurin) Kinney and husband Jonathan of Nashua NH. She had 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren whose lives Joanne was very involved in.

She was predeceased by her brother Ralph Emmett Tucker Jr., his wife Joan (Higgins) and their daughter Susan (Tucker) Cox. She is survived by niece Jane (Tucker) O’Connell and her children: son Geoffrey E. O’Connell, daughter Karyn (O’Connell) Enos, husband Joseph and their 4 children, all of whom she adopted as her own after her brother passed.

Joanne is also survived by her long time partner Lee R. Miller formerly of Sagamore Beach, MA and his children: daughter Jeanne (Miller) Shields and husband Kip, daughter Charlene (Miller) Stephens and husband James as well as 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She is predeceased by Lee’s daughters Janet Miller and Cynthia Miller.

Joanne grew up in large family who lived on Cape Cod, and treasured time spent with them. She often spoke about weekly gatherings with family, the music they played and the love she felt when with them. As she grew into adulthood the importance of family connection was passed on to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Although she lived most of her life in Massachusetts, she also lived in Alaska, New Jersey, Maine, Florida and Kwajalein, an island in the south Pacific. Cape Cod was always considered her home.

She worked as a secretary and a computer programmer after raising her children and still maintains many of those work friendships. Joanne played the piano and was very artistic. She loved to travel, dance, bike, hike, ski, and kayak, but most of all she loved the people she did these activities with. Joanne was known for freely opening her heart in friendship to anyone she met, bringing her positive and cheerful disposition to every interaction. Whether with her work mates, hiking friends, biking friends or her Scottish pen pal of 80 years, she fostered deep friendships that lasted for decades. She will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.

Visiting hours will be held at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 Macarthur Blvd, Bourne, MA on Tuesday August 4, 2026 from 12:00 – 2:00 pm followed by a short service.
