Born on October 18, 1945 in Cohasset, MA, John grew up with his brothers Maurice Barrett and Wayne Allum, and was the son of Doris and Arthur Allum. John was a graduate of Weymouth High School and he proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969. Upon his return, he worked at General Dynamics for several years and later became a truck driver for various companies.
Survived by his son John Barrett with his wife Popi Barrett of Pembroke MA, daughter Joanne DiMaggio with her husband Chris DiMaggio of Methuen, MA, and his four grandchildren Evan, Nicholas, Christopher and Dimitri. John will always be remembered for his spirited stories of the past, his easy going nature and his love for cars, motorcycles and anything needing fixing. John’s memory will forever live within his loving family.
Burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery is private.
