John Willett Shorrock passed away at his home in Pocasset on Friday, August 7th, after living 2 years with pancreatic cancer. John was born and raised in Dartmouth, Ma. He graduated from Westfield State College in 1978 with a degree in criminal justice and took his first job as a police officer in Barre City, Vermont, where he remained for 2 years before moving to Cape Cod. On the Cape, he worked for Bank of America in Falmouth for 29 years, then for Martha’s Vineyard Bank for 11 years before retiring in 2021.
John was an active member of Cape Cod Church in East Falmouth. He considered it a privilege to lead a weekly bible study in his home for over 20 years with some of his very dear church family. He also loved animals and after retiring spent a year as a puppy raiser for Dogs for Better Lives in East Falmouth. His love for animals included backyard chickens and 2 pet goats. Some of John’s happiest moments were holidays around the dinner table and backyard barbecues with family and friends.
John was a devoted husband and father. He loved the Lord and gave his life to Jesus in 1989. His faith allowed him to face his cancer with strength and peace. Among his greatest joys on earth was his family. He cherished them deeply and was a steadfast and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves behind his wife Judy (Studley) of 46 years, as well as his children: Isaiah (Newfane, Vt.) Noah and Kelly (Frisco, TX), Jonas and Jeremy (Middleboro, Ma), and Mahalie (Nashville TN). He was the proud Grampy of 5 beautiful grandchildren: Alden, Ayla, Mia, Parker, and Jensen.
