Born and raised in Cambridge, MA, she graduated from North Cambridge Catholic High School in 1958, a place where she formed friendships that lasted her entire life. The third of nine children born to Mary and Alexander McNaught, Kathleen grew up in a lively, bustling household that shaped her strong spirit and deep sense of family. She is survived by five of her siblings, while three brothers have gone before her.
In 1960, she married the love of her life, Richard Patton. Together they built a home filled with laughter, hard work, and unwavering commitment. Their 61-year marriage remained a source of strength and pride until Richard’s passing in 2021.
Kathleen was the heart of a large and close-knit family. She is survived by her four sons: Gary and his spouse Scarlett, Richard, William and his spouse Yvette, and David and his spouse Debra. She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren and a delighted great grandmother to thirteen great grandchildren, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy.
Beyond her devotion to family, Kathleen embraced life with energy and curiosity. She developed a spirited love for skeet shooting and became not only an avid participant but a skilled competitor, known for her steady aim, sharp focus, and the joy she found in the sport.
She also had a deep love for her dogs, who were constant companions and a source of comfort and happiness throughout her life. Kathleen found peace and purpose as a yoga instructor, sharing her calm presence and gentle encouragement with others. Some of her most cherished moments were spent walking along the canal, taking in the quiet beauty of the water and the world around her.
Never one to stop growing, Kathleen returned to school later in life to earn her degree—an achievement she cherished deeply. With characteristic determination, she went on to establish her own successful accounting business, serving her community with integrity, precision, and a personal touch that made clients feel like family. Her work reflected the same strength, independence, and generosity that defined every part of her life.
Family remained her greatest passion. She never missed a milestone, always offered a listening ear, and loved sharing stories from “the old days.” Her warmth, humor, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved husband, and that her spirit lives on in the generations she nurtured.
A visitation will be held at 4 to 7 on Monday, May 11, 2026 at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Burial to follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
