Lawrence "Larry" George Kennedy

Lawrence George Kennedy, 82, of Yarmouth, Ma formerly Braintree, Ma passed away peacefully on August 3, 2026, with his loving family by his side. He was born to the late Betty (Brown) Kennedy and Lawrence William Kennedy of Braintree, MA.

Larry was born on May 17, 1944, in Weymouth, Ma, and lived a life defined by hard work, service, laughter, and an unwavering love for his family. Larry graduated from Braintree High School as a Braintree Wamp in 1962 where he played High School football and created lifelong friendships with the Bra-Wey gang.

Larry proudly served his country as a United States Marine from 1963-1969, carrying the values of honor, dedication, and strength throughout his life. He went on to build a respected career in the construction trades, earning a Master Plumbers License. Larry became a proud member of Plumbers Local 12, Boston, during the 1980s where he was employed for over 15 years as a foreman. He was known for his strong work ethic and plumbing skills and finished his career after working more than 10 years for the Boston Housing Authority.

Larry followed his dreams, retired in 2011 to Cape Cod and Venice, Florida. He found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. Whether he was fishing, boating, clamming, spending a day at the beach, enjoying a good meal, watching the Patriots or just about any sporting event, he embraced every moment.

Above all else, Larry treasured his family. He was predeceased by his daughter Cheri Armenti. He is survived by his children: Scott Kennedy, Kim Peterson and her husband Charlie, Joe Kennedy and his wife, Stacy, Michael Kennedy and his wife, Eliza, his daughter in law, Michelle, his sister Irene Aldorisio and her daughters Liz and Laurene. Predeceased by his brother-in-law Bobby. Also survived by his close friend Elizabeth Ross. He was also the proud and loving grandfather of 13 grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.

Larry had a gift for making people smile and will always be remembered for his bright blue eyes, quick wit, unforgettable sayings, and the stories that brought laughter to every gathering.

Those who knew Larry will remember him as a devoted father and grandfather, a loyal friend, a proud Marine, and a man whose wisdom, humor, and love left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, laughter, and strength will never be forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visiting hours on Monday, August 10, 2026, from 4-8 p.m at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 154 Route 6A, Sandwich, MA

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish 324 Quaker Meeting House Rd., East Sandwich. Burial with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Following the burial, family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life luncheon to share memories, laughter, and stories in honor of Larry’s remarkable life.
