Lester R. Anderson, 80, of Sagamore Beach died peacefully at home with his family on Friday, February 21st. He was the devoted husband to Virginia "Ginny" Anderson for 26 years until her passing. Lester was a life-long Bourne resident having graduated BHS in 1963 where he served as a hockey captain before working as an Electronics Technician for the US Army. He returned home and forged a career in carpentry where there was little Lester couldn't do with his hands. He excelled at finish work where his craftsmanship & attention to detail were on full display. He worked countless projects including small neighborhood developments in Bournedale & Sagamore Beach. Lester was one of nine children raised in Bournedale by his parents Onnie William Anderson & Gertrude Haskell.
Lester loved the game of golf. If he wasn't playing a round at Little Harbor he was chipping balls around his yard. He also loved to hunt & fish where he would spend time with his brothers and nephews in the woods of Maine. He was a gifted wood carver, specifically birds, fish & flowers, an avid gardener, and loved attending his grand-kid's games and meets.
Lester is survived by his 3 children: Cheryl Macnally and her husband Mark of Monument Beach, Lucille Sorenti and her husband Michael of Sagamore Beach, and Michael Bonito and his significant other Emily Seelig of Gray Gables. He leaves 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Ronald Anderson of Bourne, Carolyn Kierstead of Plymouth, David Anderson of Plymouth, Richard Anderson of Bourne & Helen Dirsa of Bourne.
A Celebration of Life will be May 10th from 1-4pm at the VFW, 180 Shore Rd. Bourne, MA.
