

Lorraine A. (Rencavage) Sweeney, 86, of Plymouth, MA and Daytona Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, October 16, 2015. She was the wife of her beloved Joe, the late Joseph E. Sweeney for 53 years, daughter of Charles and Josephine (Eccker) Rencavage. Mrs. Sweeney was born on December 24, 1928, the same date as her maternal Grandmother, and also baptized in Springfield, PA. Known as Rinkey for all her life, she went on to graduate from Coal Township High School in 1946 and was Captain of her high school basketball team, the Rinkey Dinks.
She married Joseph E, Sweeney in Shamokin, PA in 1951. After having four children, they moved from Shamokin to York, PA and then Oreland, PA where every house was truly a home, and finally settled in Bourne, MA in 1964. After working as the Bourne Jr. High School's Principal's secretary, she and her husband bought, owned and operated Playland Arcade in Buzzards Bay from 1975 to 1988, After retiring, they summered in Plymouth and escaped to Daytona Beach in the winter, where she volunteered as an income tax preparer for senior citizens and took up the game of golf.
A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she never missed a single event in her children's lives, after saying the rosary for them every morning. She took great delight in her eight grandchildren, each of whom she loved very much along with her beloved husband, Joe. She never passed up an opportunity to remind her children and grandchildren of their half Polish heritage, even though they insisted they were Irish. Many great polish dishes were created in her kitchen.
Her four children along with their spouses as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren will love her and miss her forever; including son, Joseph E. Sweeney, Jr., his wife, Catherine of Fort Worth, TX, their children Daniel Sweeney, his wife, Miranda, and their children, Jase and Emereigh Sweeney, Fort Worth, TX, and Kellen Sweeney, Fort Worth, TX; son, James C. Sweeney, and his late wife Andrea Sweeney of Monument Beach; daughter, Kathleen Sweeney Cincotta, her husband Ronald, Waltham, and their children, Ron Cincotta, his wife Andrea Strauss Cincotta, Jennifer Cincotta, Boston and Joseph Cincotta, Waltham; son Daniel Sweeney, his wife Deborah, Centerville and their children, Caitlyn Sweeney Finnemore, her husband Rob and their daughter, Charlotte Rose, Plymouth; Bryan Sweeney, Boston and Christopher Sweeney, Greenville, SC.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at 12 noon Thursday, October 22, 2015 at St. Margaret's Church, 141 Main St., Buzzards Bay. Interment will be with her husband at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
