

Marina is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Savas Hantzes, Retired United States Navy Captain, and children: Helena Hantzes and her spouse Ellen Slavin of Wilton Manors, FL; Sophia Hantzes of Minneapolis MN; Sarina Waters and her husband Gregory Waters of Brookfield CT. She is survived by her three sisters: Evenor Vasarmes, Katherine Hastings, Charlotte Dehning, brother-in law Robert Dehning and sister-in-law Geri Kosartes. Marina is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Christopher Savas Waters, Nicholas Richard Waters and his wife Sarah, and Justin Gregory Waters. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who she adored and many close friends. Marina is proceeded in death by her siblings: Vasilike Waranuk, Mary Spanos, Christos Kosartes, Soteria Megas, Arthur Kosartes, and Hugh Theodore Kosartes. Marina was born on April 26, 1928 in Lowell MA to Sophia and John Kosartes. Marina graduated from Lowell Technical Institute as a Textile Engineer. She was the only female graduate in her class. Marina married Savas Hantzes, in1952. They retired in North Falmouth, MA in 1974 after 30 years of worldwide military travel. She enjoyed a myriad of interests including teaching, travel consulting, election judge, docent, and concierge and volunteering at local libraries. She was also an avid bridge player and loved the beach. Marina was a long time member of the Falmouth Republican Town Committee and attended the Inauguration of President Ronald Regan, and hosted then candidate Regan in Falmouth. Marina loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00am on Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Nickerson -Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd, Bourne, MA. The service will be conducted in the Eastern Orthodox Rite.
Marina will be interred at the National Cemetery in Bourne MA. The internment will be private.
