

Marion E. Long,104, of Bourne, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love at Royal Megansett on October 15,2022. She was predeceased by her husband Chet Long, two of her children, Linda and Jerry Robert and her two sisters Gladys and Margery. Marion was born May 11,1918 in Waterville, ME to Jessie F. and Ernest J. Shepard.
Marion spent her early years in Lynn MA and graduated from Saugus High School. After graduating she worked for General Electric in Boston and then moved to Cape Cod to take a job as a Nanny in Yarmouthport. Once married she lived in Hyannis and then she and her family settled in Bourne where they lived for thirty years until they retired and moved to Ocala FL. While living in Bourne, Marion was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, a faithful volunteer wherever needed and active in the Bourne United Methodist Church where she spent many Sundays in the Nursery taking care of the “little ones” which she loved doing. Marion was a social person and also adored children and pets so her Gray Gables home was always full of relatives, friends and several family pets.
Marion is survived by her daughter Betty Anderson and husband Dick of Monument Beach, ten grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, nineteen great great grandchildren and one nephew. She would often say that her family was her most prized possession.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Royal Megansett and Fidelis Hospice for the loving and compassionate care Marion received and an extra special thanks to her Guardian Angel, Lorrie Ross.
A memorial service will be held at the Bourne United Methodist Church at a date to be determined. Burial is private. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Marion to the MSPCA 1577 Falmouth Road, Centerville, MA 02632.
