

Marjorie Jane Elliott, 94, of Sagamore Beach, MA passed away on May 22, 2021 after a brief stay at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. Mrs. Elliott, born October 14, 1926 is the widow of the late William J. Elliott of Cambridge, MA and the daughter of the late Dr. Whittier and Christine Atkinson of Coatesville, Pennsylvania and Woburn, Massachusetts.
Marjorie grew-up in both Woburn and Coatesville and graduated from Woburn High School prior to attending Spellman College in Georgia and Northeastern University in Massachusetts where she studied nursing. While in college she met William Elliott, a graduate of Boston College and Tufts University specializing in biochemistry. Married in1949, Marjorie treasured her 58 years of marriage to her Bill and together they had eight children (four boys and four girls). In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, Marjorie enjoyed a career as an administrator for a leading pharmaceutical company. The family built their retirement home on Cape Cod in 1991 and enjoyed many amazing memories over the years including seeing most of her children graduate from college and build successful careers.
Marjorie and Bill’s family have a significant history in healthcare going back to their parents. In 1934, Dr. Whittier Atkinson built a successful community hospital. Atkinson Memorial Hospital in Coatesville, Pennsylvania that served the community for over 50 years. While, her husband’s mother, Marie E. Elliott built a successful Nursing Home in Cambridge, Ma and ultimately came to Sagamore to buy her home in 1946. Remarkably, both of their children met, married, and chose healthcare fields carrying on the family legacy.
Marjorie is survived by multi-generations from children to great-grandchildren living across the United States and abroad. Her children include Linda Zango Haley of New York, William Christopher Elliott (deceased), Mark Elliott of Sagamore Beach, Cecile Middleton of New Jersey, James Elliott of New Jersey, Carolyn and Luther Marvin Allison of North Carolina, Bruce Elliott and Margaret Smith of New Jersey and Marjorie Elliott jr. of Massachusetts. Her grandchildren include Ahmed Zango, Francesca Lujan, Mamadou Zango, Keith Middleton, Geoffrey Middleton, Eric Middleton, Luther Samuel Allison, Christina Allison, Andre Elliott, James Elliott Jr., Kristian Elliott, Zaafirah Robb, Maariya Robb, and Fawziyya Robb (deceased). There are six great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held on Friday May 28th at 12pm noon, Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. Bourne, MA. Burial will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. Visiting hours will be prior from 11- 11:45 am.
