Mary Elizabeth Brown

Mary Elizabeth Brown (Johnson) 89 years old of Bourne, Mass. passed away on Our Lord’s Day, September 10th, 2023 after a sudden medical event at home. She was born on April 12th, 1934 in Brockton, Mass. She is the daughter of Charles Johnson and Helen (Blee) Johnson of Brockton, Mass. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 71 years Arthur “Brownie” Jay Brown, Jr. of Bourne, Mass. She leaves Arthur in the most capable hands of their only and favorite son Christoper J. Brown and his wife Deborah (Hay) Brown of Norfolk, Mass. and their only and favorite daughter Cheryl A. (Brown) Delaney and her husband William F. Delaney of Pendleton, SC. Mary passed away on Grandparents’ Day and was the best Grammy ever to both Kelsey Elizabeth (Delaney) Guzman of Charlotte, NC and Zachary James Delaney of Pendleton, SC. Mary is also Grandmother to Katlyn Christyne Delaney who pre-deceased her. Mary leaves her only surviving brother Paul Johnson of Danvers, Mass. as well as several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her siblings, Eileen Whiting, Helen Brooks, and Robert Johnson.

After having a stellar work career, Mary retired as an ATT operator. She spent 20 years as a professional who was not only dedicated to customer service but to serving her community in her role.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Mary’s final resting place where her memory will be cherished forever is Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Mass.
