BOURNE — Matthew J. Madden, 24, of Bourne passed away on June 5, 2018 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He is the son of Elizabeth Madden of Mansfield and Richard Madden of Chester, NH. Matthew was the beloved grandson of Judith Riordan MacKenzie and Hugh MacKenzie of Bourne.

Matthew graduated from Haverhill High School and attended Bristol Community College with plans to continue his education at a later date. He bravely faced the challenges of addiction with fortitude in an endeavor to live life on life’s terms. Matthew was an active member of the sober community in Falmouth. Working for M&L Builder’s, he looked forward to learning the trade and yearned to contribute to society in a positive manner. Matthew was loving, sensitive, bright and inquisitive. Outgoing and energetic, he was a true animal lover. Friendly, he enjoyed meeting new people and spending time with his friends and family.

In addition to his parents and grandmother, he is survived by his brother, Jonathan Madden and fiancee, Seni Pagan of Salem. Matthew also leaves his stepmother, Maria Madden of Chester, NH and stepfather, Jack Ludvigsen of Mansfield. He has many aunts and uncles: Donna Chadwick of Westford, Michael and Carol Riordan of Los Gatos, CA, Lauren and Scott Woodard of Pepperell, Brendon and Kara Riordan of Morgan Hill, CA. He is survived by 7 first cousins and many second and third cousins. Matthew was especially close to his cousin Claire Riordan of Lake Tahoe, NV and his girlfriend, Kerry Nault of Falmouth. Matthew leaves many friends from Haverhill and Cape Cod.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home at 40 MacArthur Boulevard in Bourne from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on June 10, 2018. A memorial service will be held the following day, June 11, 2018 at 11:00 in Christ Lutheran Church on 485 Brick Kiln Road in Falmouth. Burial will be private at a later date in Oakland Grove Cemetery in Bourne.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to addiction or veteran’s services or causes.
