Paul Kettell Willard died peacefully at eighty-seven years of age on Cape Cod. He was the eldest son of Rev. W. Wyeth Willard & Mrs. Grace Willard and the beloved brother of the late Dr. Hope Brooks, Ms. Faith Willard, and Mr. Peter Willard. He is survived by his two siblings; his daughter, Mrs. Kim Vermette; his two grandsons, Mr. Kyle Vermette and Mr. Ryan Vermette; his three nephews, Dr. Stephen Brooks, Dr. Warren Brooks, and Wyeth Willard II; and his five nieces, Jane Brooks, Grace Aviles, Bethany Wilkinson, Rachel Toothaker, and Dr. Leah Elias.
Paul graduated from Wheaton Academy in Illinois and attended Baylor University. He had a big heart and longed to assist those in need. He used to offer local people rides to the grocery store and is remembered for giving away money and other generous gifts. Brother Peter was dumbfounded at Paul’s quick response to a man who came into the Red Cross Center where they worked begging money to visit his dying mother. Paul emptied his pockets for the desperate man.
After college Paul served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper. Later he worked for Argentine Airline and Varig Airline while living in New York City. He loved trucks and drove a delivery truck for Hood Milk Company, an eighteen-wheeler for Werner Enterprises, and eventually started his own trucking company, Willard Trucking. He retired to Cape Cod where he lived in a cottage at Camp Good News for the final years of his life. He loved people and was a champion dart player and swimmer in his youth. As he grew, his relationship with the Lord deepened, and Paul began to distribute Bibles to other truckers and started a men’s breakfast group at Church of the Good Shepherd.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by loved ones. Paul was ready to be with his Lord and Savior.
