

Rhoda was born in Bourne, MA on February 17, 1936, a daughter of the late Ellery Sears, and Pearl (Hammond) Coombs Tobey, Jr.
She lived on Cape Cod her whole life in her beloved Village of Pocasset. She was a graduate of Bourne High School. She worked as an administrative assistant at the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe for 8 years and prior worked 20 years at the Barnstable County Hospital.
She was a proud elder of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe. She was an avid New England sports fan, she also loved watching local Bourne teams that included her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching golf and was known for her loud cheering and laugh.
She is survived by her daughter, Coreen Victoria Moore-Covey and her husband Henry J. Covey, her son, Wayne Henry Fernandez and his wife Kristine, a sister Thelma Fair, grandchildren, Christopher, Justin, Anastasia, Matthew, Ariel, Alissa and Miteyo, great-grandchildren, Dionte, JJ, Shyanne, Joy, Arielle, Justin, Isaiah, Gavin, Dominic, Isaac, Isabella, Micah and Maisie , son-in-law, Jefferson Johnson and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter Brenda Pearl Fernandez-Johnson and siblings, Carol Young, Pearl Lima, Wilhelmina Tobey, Gertrude Trotman, Louise Jacklin, Alice Santos, Ernestine Benson, Alcott Tobey, Aaron Tobey, Elton Tobey, Thornton Tobey and Malcolm Tobey.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 30, 2025 at the Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home 40 MacArthur Blvd., Bourne, MA.
