Roberta A. (O’Brien) Lavache, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on September 11, 2026, her 82nd birthday, after a long illness. Born on September 11, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Helen O’Brien of Jamaica Plain and grew up in Roslindale. She graduated from St. Clare’s High School in 1963.
In 1964, Roberta graduated from Debonaire Academy of Beauty Culture as a licensed hairdresser and practiced for many years. In the 1980s, she began her own house-cleaning business, which she continued until her retirement in 2001.
On October 16, 1965, Roberta married the love of her life, Paul D. Lavache, Jr., known to their family as Dave. Together they shared 60 years of marriage and raised four children. Roberta was a devoted wife and a loving, protective mother to Craig, Aimee, Nicole, and Matthew. She was a proud grandmother to Kaycee, Jake, Shane, Sophia, Madison, and Makayla, and was smitten with her great-granddaughter, Lili, affectionately known as “Twinkle Toes.”
Roberta was truly one of a kind. She loved her family with her whole heart and was always there for the people she loved. She had a personality all her own, including her famous “Roberta-isms,” which will continue to make her family laugh and remember her for years to come.
She is survived by her husband, Paul, of Fort Myers, FL; daughters Aimee Lavache of Rockland and Nicole MacDonald and her husband Glenn of Raynham; son Matthew Lavache and his wife Kerri of Hanover; six grandchildren, her great-granddaughter, brother Bill, sister Mary Jo, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Craig Lavache, brother Richard O’Brien, and her parents, Walter and Helen O’Brien.
Roberta was the brightest light in the room and often the life of the party. Her warmth, humor, and unmistakable spirit remained with her until the very end. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
