Born on June 23, 1933, in Mt. Carmel, Pennsylvania, Russell was the beloved son of Orest Stuchlak, born in Austria, and Anna (Chupak) Stuchlak of Pennsylvania. One of nine children, Russell was part of a large and loving family.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955, embodying the values of service and commitment that would define his life. On April 26, 1958, he married the love of his life, Leona J. (Lee) Lorady. Russell and Lee lived in Yardville, New Jersey where they raised their family and created a home full of love and lasting memories.
Russell was a devoted father to four children: the late Russell John Stuchlak, Nancy Ann Newbold of Kissimmee, FL, Richard David Stuchlak and his wife Dora Migliore Stuchlak of East Wareham, MA, and Christopher Stuchlak of Orlando, FL. He was the proud grandfather of ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In 1983, Russ and Lee moved to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where they launched a successful Tupperware distributorship business based in Wareham, MA. Together, they worked side by side in business for 16 prosperous years.
Russell retired in 1999 and moved to Kissimmee, FL in 2001, where he became affectionately known throughout his community as “Mr. Russ” and “The Angel Man.” After Lee’s passing 14 years ago, Russell began a deeply personal mission of kindness—distributing over 6,000 blessed angel pins to strangers he encountered, each one a symbol of comfort and hope. These pins were blessed at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe in Orlando, where Russell volunteered faithfully for 20 years.
Russell is survived by his cherished sisters: Helen Watcher, 104, of Columbia, PA; Irene Howanec, 100, of Woodbridge, IL; and Amelia Balandovich, 89, of Bethlehem, PA. He was predeceased by his brothers Joseph and John Stuchlak, and his sisters Anne Searle, Martha Phillips, and Mary Buzolich.
Russell’s legacy is one of generosity, faith, and love. Whether through a kind word, a shared story, or a simple angel pin, he made the world a little brighter for thousands of people. His gentle spirit, unwavering devotion to family, and deep compassion for others will be remembered always.
Visitation will be held on Thursday June 26th from 5-8pm at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. Bourne, MA. A funeral service will take place at 1pm on Friday June 27th in the funeral home, burial will follow at Oakland Grove Cemetery off of Shore Rd. in Bourne.
