Born on May 31, 1940, in Everett, Massachusetts, Shirley was the beloved daughter of the late John and Marguerite (Steele) King.
Shirley devoted many years of her career to the Medical Records Department at Whidden Memorial Hospital in Everett before retiring to Cape Cod, a place she truly loved and was grateful to call home.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Shirley was happiest tending to her backyard garden, feeding the birds, bunnies, turkeys and other wildlife that visited her yard, cheering on her beloved Boston Bruins, browsing the aisles of the Christmas Tree Shops, and enjoying dinners at Seafood Sam’s along Cape Cod Canal. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family and had a special affection for her granddogs, who always held a special place in her heart.
More than anything, Shirley will be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She had a big heart, caring spirit, and a quiet strength that served her well in life. Her greatest happiness came from watching her children and grandchildren grow, celebrating their accomplishments and creating memories together.
Shirley is survived by her children: Terry Incerto, widow of Richard ; Carolyn Kane widow of John ; Catherine Henning; and Bill Monahan and his wife, Christa.
She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Jack, Patrick, Shannon, Caroline, Courtney, Liam, Gracyn, and Addison; her sisters, Beverly Hicks and her husband, Douglas, and Jaclyn Morel and her husband, Edward ; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear lifelong friends, and her beloved granddogs.
Shirley’s kindness, warmth, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will continue through the family she loved so completely and the countless lives she touched with her quiet generosity.
A Funeral Mass will be held at Corpus Christi Church , 324 Quaker Meetinghouse Road in East Sandwich, MA on August 15th at 11AM with a luncheon to follow.
“The flowers she planted will bloom each spring, the animals she faithfully fed will return each morning, and the love she gave so freely will continue to live in the hearts of her family forever.”
