

Mr. Thomas Charles Comerford passed away peacefully at home in Sutton, MA on May 29, 2016 at the age of 66. Thomas was loved and will be greatly missed by his wife; Madelyn Comerford of Yarmouth Port, his four children; Carmen Malgeri and wife Alison of N. Brookfield, Tina Beasley of Yarmouth Port, Lori Comerford of Dover, NY and Thomas J. Comerford and wife Nary of Douglas, MA. His brothers Joseph Comerford and wife Valerie of Hopewell Junction, NY, Ronald Comerford and his wife Catherine of Litchfield, NH, sister Catherine Scalisi and husband Mario of Highland, NY and his longtime friend Marylou Taylor. Seven Grandchildren, Eric Comerford, Meagan Harrington, George III and Kevin Mahoney, Emma (Boch) Beasley, Sophie and Benjamin Comerford, his Aunt Patsy of Staten Island NY, 3 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Thomas was born on August 28, 1949 in Staten Island, NY to Joseph Comerford and Helen Roberts. He graduated from Carmel High School in 1967 then went on to receive his Associate's Degree from Quinsigamond Community College. Thomas served his country with exceptional service of duty and pride. His service to the country began at Great Lakes Naval Base in 1968. His duty followed with service aboard the USS Elokomin (AO-55) from 1968 - 1970. He then transferred to the USS Nantahala where he achieved the rate of Yeoman Seaman. In 1975 he was transferred to Newport, RI attended Naval Justice School and became a Legal Yeoman.
His final Naval duty station was aboard the USS Roosevelt and ended his military service as a TSGT with the MA Air National Guard in 1995. He began his US Postal career in the mail sorting facility in Worcester, MA. With time and much hard work, he was promoted to the Shrewsbury sorting facility, worked as a Manager as well as a Route Auditor. He retired in 2005 with almost 30 years of service.
Visiting hours will be Monday June 6, 2016 from 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM at the Nickerson Funeral Home 40 MacArthur Blvd. Bourne, MA. A Funeral Mass will follow at St. John the Evangelist Church in Pocasset, MA at 12:00 noon. A military ceremony will be held at 1:45 PM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA. Flowers welcomed or memorial contributions in his memory may be made to your local VFW and or Disabled American Veterans.
