Timothy H. Phipps

Timothy Howard Phipps, 67, of Sagamore, Massachusetts, passed peacefully on August 25, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Tim was born in North Attleboro, Massachusetts, in 1958 to Frankland Phipps and Mary E. Hope Kelley. He was the youngest of five children. He attended North Attleboro High School before proudly answering the call to serve his country and enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1977. He served until 1980, carrying the pride of being a Marine with him throughout the rest of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Lisa Marie Phipps of Sagamore, and his former wife and friend, Julie Gilmartin-Phipps of Norton, with whom he shared two daughters, Alyssa Phipps and Lauren Phipps, both of Norton. He also leaves behind his beloved grandson, Benjamin, as well as his nieces and nephews, Jacob Barret, Kellyann Phipps, Goddaughter Jaclyn Gikis, Patrick Phipps, Richard Scanlon, Charisma Upton, Paul Lanoue Jr and several more. Tim began his career in engineering, eventually turning his experience and determination into his own successful business, Poly Tech Diamond Co., which continues to operate today with the help of his devoted employees. Tim cherished the business he built and was deeply grateful to the people who helped make it possible. Poly-Tech was his legacy and one of his greatest life accomplishments.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Frankland Phipps of North Attleboro, and Hope Phipps of Attleboro; his brothers, Kelley Phipps of North Attleboro, and Stephen Phipps of Harwich; and his sisters, Patricia Phipps of North Attleboro and June Barrett of Franklin. Tim was honored to have served as a Marine and remained committed to supporting and honoring fellow veterans. He especially enjoyed volunteering at the American Legion, feeding veterans at Brockton Hospital, being a member of The Leathernecks Motorcycle Club and placing American flags throughout the community with his grandson. He lived by the Marine motto, “Semper Fi,” and carried it’s spirit of loyalty and service into everything he did.

If you asked Tim what his favorite thing in the world was, he would have told you without hesitation that it was being Benjamin’s Papa. The two shared a special bond and endless fun together. They put on dances for the family, played chess and competed against each other in board games, wore matching outfits, and were constantly playing jokes on one another. Being Benjamin’s Papa was one of Tim’s greatest joys.

Tim was, above all else, a family man. He was a loving husband, a proud girl dad, a devoted dog dad to his Fippy, and a provider who always made sure the people he loved were taken care of. He welcomed anyone into his home and routinely went above and beyond for family and friends. Tim was selfless, often putting the needs of others before his own.

He loved riding his motorcycles around Cape Cod, fishing for stripers from his boat off Sandy Neck Beach along with camping, collecting antiques, and watching reruns of Gunsmoke on TV Land. He loved entertaining and had a way of making every gathering more fun. When you were around Tim, chances were you were laughing.

Tim was also a fighter. Even through significant health challenges he refused to let them define him or keep him from living his life. He continued to do the things he loved, spend time with his family, and make memories with the people who mattered most to him. His strength, determination, and stubbornness were unmistakably Tim.

Tim leaves behind so many memories, stories, and laughs that will be talked about for years to come. He will be deeply missed by the people who knew and loved him, but he will never be forgotten

A service open to family and friends will take place at St. Margaret of Scotland Church (141 Main Street Buzzards Bay, MA) on September 3rd at 11:00am followed by a private family burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, MA. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Elks Lodge in North Attleboro, MA (52 Bulfinch Street) on September 20th at 12:00pm, all are welcomed to attend.
