William "Bill" F. Goode

On Wednesday, August 9, 2023, William Goode of Pocasset, MA passed away at home at the age of 90. He is survived by his daughter Claire Goode of Bourne, MA. Bill was predeceased by his parents, his sister Barbara, his brothers James and Robert, and his loving wives Ann (Douglas) in 1981, and Barbara (Beshaw) in 2019.

Born in 1932, Bill grew up in Boston, and graduated from Roslindale High School in 1951. He later attended Wentworth College and Cape Cod Community College. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Navy for two years. He then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and served for 23 years, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a lifetime member of the Bourne VFW post. Bill worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Pocasset for 19 years. He enjoyed camping, traveling, and riding his bike on the Cape Cod Canal, up to 30 miles a week. He was also a big Boston sports fan and loved to root for the Patriots and Red Sox. An avid dog lover, Bill had many furry companions over the years, including Hogan, Jason, Charlie and Rocky. But for many, Bill is remembered for his corny jokes and his great sense of humor.

Bill lived in and visited many countries in his lifetime, including Canada, England, Ireland, France, Italy, Bermuda, Portugal, Spain, Russia, Turkey, Morocco, Canary Islands, Brazil, Peru, Venezuela, Costa Rica, India, and Kenya. In 2021 at the age 88, he and Claire visited Alaska.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday August 23rd at 10AM, St. John of the Evangelist Parish, 841 Shore Rd. Pocasset, MA. Burial will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4-7PM at Nickerson-Bourne Funeral Home, 40 MacArthur Blvd. Bourne, MA.
